This was an easy way to create a podcast. Recording and talking were pretty simple. It did help that Erin got me to the point where all I had to do was start talking!

I think it is cool that you can read opinions of teachers from across the globe. It is interesting that they are going through some of the same issues that we are facing.

Thing 21~pageflakes

I will not use this in PreK. I think it would be neat for middle and high school students. I especially like the tools. I remember having a question about how to do something, or a formula in math, and this would be very useful to refer to as needed. I did like the 3rd grade Pageflakes created by Shelly. The audio stories were neat. I can see it being helpful in lower grades too, but not in PreK.

I think this will be useful, but it will be hard to get out of the routine to attach documents with emails. I think my grade partner could use this to make one newsletter for our grade. We have also talked about doing this with our upcoming themes. Some weeks we simply do not have time to sit down and meet about what is coming up and how to present it to our students. This will help us to add ideas as we go, and to see them easily. I think this will work in planning. It will keep us organized and on track. It is so easy to be interrupted during the day and forget to tell her something, but I could type it and share it at any time during the day.

I am co-directing VBS this summer, and this would be helpful in providing a list of volunteers and organizing them into groups. Right now we have several different sheets of paper going around with many different names. I would hate to lose someones name who has offered their help!

There were several alphabet songs, many which were creepy! Here is one that was tolerable. I could not find the yellow “A” that was in the directions- so maybe this will work. I also found some neat pictures/videos of ocean animals.

Here is the site: http://www.youtube.com/v/EVY02BIUsMc&hl=en”></param><param

I could not get Teacher Tube to open.

I viewed the PBS podcasts for selfish reasons- I wanted to see if there was anything I could download for free onto my iPod for my child. There was! I think “Super Why” is an excellent show for preschool children. My little girl loves it. It is also an entire episode, which surprised me.

I have used iTunes podcasts for my soap opera- but it was audio only. I am not sure if that was a mistake,  but I didn’t like that. I have also subscribed to Sesame Street’s podcast, but they were only for 5 minutes. It wasn’t worth the trouble.

I think this would be helpful when teaching older students more so than younger. I do think there might be some value in using it for younger, but then the issue becomes how to show it to my class. Once everyone in the school gets a Smart-board, it would work.

I was not very impressed with this site. Maybe I am too much of a private person for this- but I really didn’t see the point. It almost seemed like an online counseling session- one in which I did not want to participate! I will not use this!

When I tried to search for a title and author, the site said that they were experiencing a high visitor load and I would need to sign up in order to search the site. I did not want to do that.

Thing 14~delicious

This is a great idea considering how many different computers I work on during the day. It will be nice to have everything in one place no matter where I am working (at home or school). I was surprised at how many resources there were for PreK. I usually have a hard time finding what I need when I need it. I think this will be something that I can use regularly.

Thing 13~Da tools, Da tools!!!

April 15th, 2008 by taylor6242 in Uncategorized · No Comments

I explored MixBook briefly, but realized that this was similar to what I have done this with Shutterfly. I created a year’s worth of pictures of my daughter and made it into a book for Christmas presents for grandparents. It was easy, and not very time consuming, well it was when we had dial up…

I then tried 30boxes. I really NEED this! I have had a hard time keeping up with birthdays and appointments lately (well since having a child!) and this would help. The more I can see where I need to be and when I need to be there, the better. I need several reminders. It also tells the weather on the calendar. I think I will really enjoy this. I do need to try it at home where I can plug in more birthdays and appointments.
